CHARITIES

Common Ground : is a community-initiated volunteer organization offering assistance, mutual aid and support. The work gives hope to communities by working with them, providing for their immediate needs and emphasizes people working together to rebuild their lives in sustainable ways.


ACORN : With the support of many friends and allies, ACORN has preserved homes, organized for the right to return and rebuild and provided a national voice for displaced families through the national ACORN Katrina Survivors Association.


Bridge House : is a New Orleans, Non Profit, Long Term Alcoholism and Drug Addiction Treatment Center. They also run an excellent thrift store and used car dealership.


Covenant House : provides shelter and services to homeless, runaway and at-risk youth 16 – 21. They seek to rebuild and reunite families whenever possible, or offer youth the opportunity and the tools they need to build healthy, independent and productive lives.


The Iron Rail Book Collective : is a collectively owned and operated, all-volunteer bookstore, lending library, and community space in New Orleans, Louisiana. They sponsor shows, host screenings and provide free internet access.


Music Rising : an instrument replacement fund for musicians of the gulf coast.


NOCCA : The New Orleans Center for Creative Arts|Riverfront is a world-class educational institution that has been changing the lives of young people since 1973. Every year, this pre-professional arts training center provides intensive instruction to students from public, private, and parochial schools across Louisiana through schoolday, after-school, weekend, and summer sessions.


New Orleans Kid Camera Project : The New Orleans Kid Camera Project was created to address the psychological and emotional impacts of Hurricane Katrina on children returning home to New Orleans. Through the use of photography, creative writing and mixed media, children from flooded neighborhoods explore their environment and express themselves, their stories and feelings with their friends.


New Orleans Musicians Clinic : The New Orleans Musicians Clinic has provided access to health and social welfare services for the local music community since 1998.

 

Renew Our Music offers grants to leaders in the music community, extends financial assistance to New Orleans musicians of all genres, and helps connect musicians with instruments and gigs.


Replant New Orleans : provides trees and shrubs, healthy soil, and education outreach services to the residents of New Orleans at no cost.

 

Silence is Violence : movement dedicated to victims of violent crime and making our city a safer place.

 

Sweet Home New Orleans is a non-profit organization dedicated to revitalizing the music and cultural community within the neighborhoods of New Orleans by helping our tradition bearers return to and stay at home.


Timecode: NOLA : is a television program that showcases short films, animations, and informative pieces that highlight filmmaking as well as spotlight the film community in the New Orleans area.

 

New Orleans Musician's Relief Fund : a grass roots certified 501c(3) founded by and for displaced musicians, has sent grants to hundreds of displaced musicians and with your help, don't plan to stop.

 

DesireNOLA : a not-for-profit corporation formed by a group of young community leaders to rebuild New Orleans by assisting small businesses.
